Seasonal Oversimplification

Snow on Valentine’s Day
Happy lovers
smile and wink
in conspiracy
with Nature’s blanket.
Unhappy individuals
the bitterness
of Winter.

On Being Released

The width of the page
the limit of the screen
the reflection of the glass.
We spend so much time
to a limited view finder:
the pavement
through the windshield
the boxes we check
inbox, outbox, mailbox
the narrow table
the squares of tile
the smallness
of our spectacles.
Step outside
look up
the sky is bigger than we remember.
